    Hacksaw.

Actually, that reminds of when I needed a new freehub on my bike. Asked the local bike shop if I could use their tools to take the old one off. "Remove the old one? We usually hacksaw them off." Shocked, I asked how they then fitted the new one on. "Superglue".

    They weren't even joking.

Leave them in the sink overnight, with a tablespoon of lemon juice.

In the morning, the bearings will have slipped out, so pop them in the microwave to dry them out.

Just get your mums sharpest knife, and saw through the wheels, give it 2 hours or so and you should be through the first wheel, hey presto, bearings are out

be careful doing it the axle way.. it can damage threads..

if you can find something like a long round file it can be easier as you get more leverage from something longer like that

Serious suggestion, if you are changing your bearings anyway and for some reason you're still really struggling then try soaking them in hot water for a while (in fact you could do it if you weren't changing your bearings as long as you popped the seals off and dried them out afterwards). It really shouldn't be that hard to get them out though.

The consolidated re-threader is the answer to that problem, flathead screw driver works best if you have super hard wheels like ricta's otherwise the axle is the way to go
