Randomly blagged myself a trip to Eindhoven this weekend. My brother is DJing at Area 51 skatepark tomorrow night, so I'm jumping in the car with him for the night... Anyone able to reccomend anything to do other than get smashed out of my face after the skate session?

...you just going for the night? About 6 of us are going there next week, arriving first thing Friday so if you stick around feel free to get in on our skate missions. I have been to most places in Holland except Eindhoven so I'm not much help, I know there's Area 51 obviously, but there's also a bunch of good parks that are a train ride away if you're up for that. To the east is Nijmegen which has Waalhalla Centrum, an amazing indoor concrete park, head north to Tilburg for Ladybird Skatepark, another indoor park. Apparently there's good street in and around Eindhoven though if you can't be bothered with trains. One thing I will say is the trains are really reasonable considering how good the service is in comparison to our awful and overpriced public transport. Anybody else in Holland next weekend? If so, get down to Waalhalla for their 3 year anniversary jam, it's gonna go off!

In answer to your question I'm sure there are plenty of things you can do without resorting to getting smashed. The Dutch are very interesting and hospitable people so I'd recommend just chatting to some of the folks you meet at Area 51 and see where that takes you. Last time I was over that way we ended up jumping in a van with people we'd only just met hours before who snuck us into a music festival in Belgium - well worth taking the time to hang out with the locals. One thing I will say is the trains are really reasonable considering how good the service is in comparison to our awful and overpriced public transport.

Never really understand why you brits complain so much about trains and coaches. Took some all over the place from Brighton to Kyle of Lochalsh and they were always on time and the fares were pretty reasonable. Have you ever used public transportation in northern Sweden or France? It's far worse than what you guys are used to!
