I think you've been able to do that for quite a while, it's just that no one bothers.

id much rather every 10 year old's first setup - which is probably going to be sold to their parents from route 1 consist of blueprint/heroin/3rd foot/uk company deck and wheels. its a good thing. all the real skateboarders know the score and dont buy from route1 (i hope!) so its all good in my opinion.

They just are, only good if your in X-box and you need something really bad cos its right there but thats the only valid excuse.
They are terrible because when they mail shit to you sometimes it is the wrong stuff and they give incorrect describtions on the site.

    Default Selling Out

You have to sell out to eat out.

I have an idea. If you don't wanna buy something at Route One and you want to support your local shop instead then do that, but shouldn't kids who are buying their first board from there be able to buy a Blueprint, Landscape or East??
    Isn't that a good thing?
    Supporting the British industry??
Route One have been selling boards for over ten years, and wheras they do dabble in the Devils work (Rollerblading) and definitely come across as clueless, (Those catalogues are terrible) they are making an effort to stock UK brands instead of just selling loads of shit blank boards.

I've been hearing this argument for years now and its boring.

The whole 'sell out' concept completely loses all it's weight when you have a mortgage and kids to feed. And I think the younger ones won't have any idea of how this can affect choices when you're older.

Money talks. Let them get on with it. As said many a time before, if you don't want to buy from them, don't.

bit more than that mate, look at the shit they sell and none of the money will back into skateboarding. None of the money will go into funding of a comp down the local, new ramps etc...it'll probably be put away for all the staff to go see my chemical romance.

actually, they usually set up a team of riders (skate/bike/rollerblade) for each shop and do hold comps for unsponsored people in the area, it's just their aggressive marketing tactics I don't like, and the fact it's like a skateboard supermarket.
Ever been to a supermarket to buy electrical goods? The people there haven't a clue if you want to ask some kind of technical question. it's only good if you're looking for a "stack them high, sell them cheap" kinda deal, and so, Route One, rather than try to open up stores in areas that need them, they try to move in on established scenes and push out the long time skater owned shops that kept people in board through the leaner times in skateboarding and deserved to make a bit of cash when it was popular.
Just shop wherever. Seems like most people just buy on the internet these days anyways.
