Saw my GP they where hmmm, not what we normally fix, but referred to hospital, same story their, but referred to a specialist who was sure we can fix that no problem.

Artificial ligament tying the two bones together, op was under an hour. Shoulder is 100% again, can't tell you how pleased I had it done ....though be prepared for quite a lot of down time, physio & a 3 inch scar.
I'm going to enquire about this, my shoulder keeps popping out for no reason when I throw things or when I climb on rocks pissed. I think it's just looser than it should be, must be some way of tightening the joint up because it wasn't like that before.

How long was the rehab after the surgery?

I have no idea about the shoulder joint, as the AC joint separation is not the main joint shoulder joint and is actually severing ligaments between two bones in your shoulder

...but if the operation is similar, I was in hospital over night, sling for 2 weeks and off work for 6 weeks by 9 weeks I had normal usage ....even though it took longer to really feel good.

So by the sounds of things you aint too bad just chill get some anti inflamatories and it will most likely be ligament which you can get proper physiotherapy for when you get back. and wank switch if thats the arm you use!!
yeah pretty similar to you, I kinda thought it was a broken collar bone or something and not so long till it healed. But the bones rubbed together erodeding by collar bone to a point, that would of probably turned arthritic and did caused pain when they caught together

....so my long term future was on my mind, too many times I've taken skateboarding over healing and my body cant repair it self like it used too. So had end of bone cut of, all fragments removed, repositioned and fixed with a new ligament (or something similar) ...couldn't be happier with the out come.

so now full moment, no pain and wank switch just for fun now!

I bruised both of my heels about 3 weeks ago and seeing as they were feeling alright I tried skating on them tonight. Left one seems fine but the right one hurts still. Any tips for speeding up the recovery process?

it was my distal fibula if that helps
You should be putting your full weight on it before you even have the cast off. When you get it off you won't have much of a range of motion in the joint and your calf will have atrophied to the width of your forearm, so you'll be limping for a couple of weeks after. It will strengthen back up pretty quick though. I had my cast off after 6 weeks and was rolling around after 4 months.

Try really hard not to limp if possible, overcompensating makes your other leg hurt like shit if you do it too much. I played in a football tournament about a month after getting the cast off my broken leg and the only pain I had was on the other leg, the shin was aching like mad.

this is so true! when i got a cast off years ago i was subconsciously walking a bit differently and i got reaaaly bad pains in my foot.. i seriously was wandering if i had broke it some how.. i had to rest for two days with my leg up to fuck it off..

and don't rush to do things, one step at a time so to speak.

not that i recomend this form of rehab, but i always remember my mate skating with his leg in cast! this was many moons ago , he even use to skate the wheels ,dickers mini ramp in his cast, in fact i think he might have learnt fronside disasters in it. Nutter.

anyone ever had any achilles trouble?

i've had the same problem on and off for about a year where my achilles tendon on my right foot (my back foot) feels like its about 2 seconds from snapping.

i stretch all the time, and that's always been fine - i've been able to put the times when its hurt down to times when ive nto stretched etc, but lately it won't go even with stretching.

and some times in the night it cramps up so brutally it wakes me up in complete pain.

    please help,

cant help with achilles but heres a cheery shoulder thought

i slammed on my left shoulder 10 (ten) years ago at tamworth snowdome on a fucking snowboard. Nearly passed out with pain. Went straight to the bar and started drinking, plus 4 ibuprofen. Went home couldnt sleep. Went to A&E at about 6am. Had it x-rayed and was told the tendons had been stretched and there was nothing they could do. Agony and no sleep for 3 months and a massive bruise.

that was 2001, now 2011 and its still not right. pop click pop

Achilles injuries are a nightmare. I hurt mine walking to work in the snow a couple of years ago and it took a good year to heal. I know of others who injured it and were never the same again. I know it's not what you want to hear but the only way to go is complete rest, and even that's no guarantee as just walking can make it flare up. I'd wager you've got a partial tear that you keep aggravating. Try and get a referral from your GP for a sports injury specialist.

    injury #2174...

i smashed my knee about a month ago. it didnt even hurt at the time until a good few hours later. since then it has ached while skating, feeling weak and seeming hard to put weight on for too long. it did improve a bit over a few days but then stayed the same. until today, when it randomly started hurting while walking to the park. when i tried skating i couldnt for more than 5 minutes before i couldnt even stand up.
the pain is hard to describe but it feels very internal, not hurting when i press on it anywhere, and feels similar to how a swollen ligament does, although it isnt.
anyone know what it could be, or what i should do ie. rest or exercise it? worrying i've done something permanent. thanks
    Trust me I'm a stomach

Does it feel like you've bashed your funny bone, but in your knee? Because I had that and I was shitting myself for a hwile but it turned out it was just really deep bruising in the end.

get it looked at, there is a guy i went to see for my knee (stretched medial collateral ligament) based in kemp town (near pizzaface) who was really good and cheap (as far as physio goes)

probably a good idea to get it looked at to rule out serious cartilage damage, because that's a scary and steady decline.

and no WS i wouldn't quite describe it like that, guess it could be deep bruising though
