Default And again, Grosso is the best (Grosso's Loveletters thread)

New Loveletters with Jeff Tatum, the uncredited inventor of the backside ollie.
    So, so good.

Only in California, and more specifically Southern California, could someone rock that kind of gear on a daily basis.

Loving all these Grosso episodes. Educational stuff.

Stoked on the Grosso Love Letters.
I watched this one this morning and tweeted it straight after.
Kids need to watch and learn. Hell, I've been skating 20+ years and I had never heard of Jeff Tatum or his backside airs before!

Oh, that was absolutely amazing! I can't believe I didn't know what a JT Air was - I've heard the name a fair few times over the years but didn't know what it was. So, is that the "big dark secret" of skateboarding? IE before Alan Gelfand?

I noticed a few clips of Tom Groholski throughout that and was so stoked, was just about to close the window, and then saw...

    NEXT EPISODE TOM GROHOLSKI!

Über-stoked! I'd still credit Groholski with being possible the most overlooked skateboarder ever - a large chunk of skateboarding, even modern street skating owes him a great debt!

Yep, him and Aaron Deeter get no credit at all.

    So....

    Bit of Groholski (after Losi)

And a bit of Aaron Deeter (invented the ollie blunt)

All of these have (obviously) been super fucking interesting, still stoked on Goff's shout out on the Footplant episode too.

Can't wait to see what he has to say on Groholski.

cheers for this really enjoyed reading that
I'm curious about the impact of Grosso's love letters, everybody seems to like /enjoy them although they are of mostly vert/bowl footage, has anyone dug out there old pads and helmet, or decided to try vert for the first time after following these? Just wondered

I bet he tells people at the park that he invented that and they look at his facepaint and fake moustache and go "yeah... right..."

I think it's when you're up on the coping on one wheel right? Like a slash that goes too over onto the wheel. Pretty sure it's only ever done by accident...

That's a wheeler I think, an edger is when it's on the edge of the wheel. Done intentionally. Loads of photos of people doing them in pools in the late 70s/early 80s.
