    Default Magee leaves Blueprint

A few years ago, I decide to invest a skate business, that I felt would secure my future working in skateboarding and help push Blueprint & its riders forward. Ironically, certain events meant this investment had the opposite effect of my original intentions. As a result, I was not able to work on Blueprint with the same passion I used to have. Although this transition has been ongoing over the past two years, recent events have helped me to decide that it's time to officially move on from my 15 years as Creative Director at Blueprint and concentrate on 'the day job'. Thanks and respect to all those who have been involved with Blueprint along the way and all those that had my back when I needed it. Thanks to Paul Shier who continues to run the brand, as he has during my last couple of years on 'hiatus'. I still hope to film, work in and be involved with skateboarding on a freelance and personal level for years to come. Dan Magee

Indeed but Dan's doing what he wants/needs to do.
    All power to him.

Methinks we need a Dan Magee appreciation thread.

It's the end of an era for sure. It'll be interesting to know where they'll be heading with the likes of Palace arguably taking the place of the UK's premier street-orientated companies, especially with the recent loss of some of their riders.

I'm stoked for him. He's done so much for skateboarding. It'll be interesting to see how Blueprint's direction will look when it's guided by someone else.

And as he says, hopefully we haven't seen the last of him in the skate world.

Wow. Blueprint vids made by someone else will feel sooo different... The end of an era for sure, as frocker said.
Those vids (WFTW, First Broadcast, the Belong Tour,...) played a big part in my love of the british scene, and Great Britain in general, really.
Good luck to Shier, and to Magee of course too! And thanks Chas for everything!

Woah, i would never have seen this coming in a million years. It seems like Dan brought UK vids to the world; the Panic/Blueprint vids and 'first broadcast' were so ahead in production values and filming (it seemed to me at the time, not knocking anybody else) at the time. I've probably watched 'first broadcast' and 'lost and found' more than any other UK vids. I hope he comes out and smashes it with a new indie project. Best of luck to him!

    Troubled times.
Totally respect Dan for bowing out and pursueing a "day job".
Moves like this make you realise just how fickle the (UK) skate industry is.
I don't want Blueprint to sink but with so many companies out there, they'll need to switch up their gameplan to maintain their position as premier brand.

Damn. I hope Magee continues to make skate videos. WFTW was the first video I bought, and that and First Broadcast are definitely up there on my all time favourites list.

Out of interest, where did the Magee quote come from?

If magee Magee hadn't done his thing I would never have got to enjoy this video, and probably wouldn't even skate any more. WFTW is the only reason I carried on skating past my first year, and it's what made me start again after I 'quit' due to surgery. One day I just decided to watch it for old times sake, then went out and bought a new setup.

Even the credits are beautiful. Thanks Magee!!
