you might be able to get away with packing your stuff in a cardboard box, I've done that before at the airport, but really your best off with a decent bag that fits a board, leave it loose and the baggage handlers will fuck with it.
Nike do a really good sized bag that they say fits 2 set ups. I was checking one out the other week, bit too large for day to day but for a longish trip, it's pretty badass.
