I wish we could recapture the real booze culture and ditch the Geordie Shore/Only Way is Essex/Instagram celeb shit.
I get what you're saying generally but is there a specific type of classic booze culture you're aiming at?

    whippet under table working-mens club?
indiekids boozer with jukebox that consistently plays "champagne supernova" at 11.21pm without fail?
spit and sawdust sticky-floor rovers return?

nothing wrong with any of the above, just wondering. my personal preference is dog-friendly, sunday roast special

For me it's just the general idea and bravado around getting as lashed as possible that just turns many a British town or city centre into a war zone in the evenings. How people you knew back at school who used to have hobbies or sports they were into just drop all of it because going out is just the coolest thing ever. I love a drink and night out every so often and I'm certainly not saying that I do the most interesting stuff in my spare time, I just don't particularity like how drinking takes over people's lives so much in this country.

On the other hand, I can perfectly understand the frustration of only having the option of a Whetherspoons, overpriced bars or horrendously overpriced Gastropubs to choose from!

So much this, makes me stoked I have skating sometime.

Blows my mind how many people I work with get straight on the beers as soon as work finishes with no dinner. Blackout drunk by 11, go home and wake up a pile and eat Dominos in bed Saturday and then go to the pub Sunday for footy ( nothing wrong with the football as such but sometimes feels like an excuse to day drink for a lot of people)

    Week in Week out.

Always wondered if we had nice weather year round things might be different

We've got two, I secretly think three now but they name them 'local things' like The William Stead (the editor of the Northern Echo that died on the Titanic, where you see their offices from said Wetherspoons).

I think someone said on here that we have one of the highest ratio of people to pubs, we have a good mix of posh footballers pubs and are you going out in an Ambulance fighting pubs and everything in-between. Craft beer pubs, real ale, Champagne bars, real award winning cocktail bars, blah, blah...

Anthony Hutton (Big Brother TV show fame of sorts) even owns a barbers/bar where you can get a drink while getting your hair cut, haha.

Forgot to share this at the time though, to be fair, I cant imagine it'll generate much interest on here:

Way overdue posting this but I've been bogged down with uni stuff for the last 6 months.

Back in December I caught up with Mackey to talk about everything the he went through with Lost Art throughout last year. Obviously some of this was touched on his interview with Free (both interviews took place on the same day actually, in Mackey's own words I got the more 'curated thoughts' regarding Nike etc) but I tried focusing on the changes to Liverpool as a city and how that's affected Lost Art and other independents there.

And if you can't be bothered reading, here's the heavily condensed audio version I submitted for a uni assignment months ago but didn't shout about as I had to chop it down so much - https://soundcloud.com/user-29876640...ckey-interview
