Thanks for all the responses and the DM’s. I’m still trying to process everything, but reading this stuff has helped. I think ultimately I want to cause her as little pain as possible. Thinking about Spankys advice, there is definitely stuff we could work on and improve and that’s a good thing. But I also know that even if we work through everything else (and I think our relationship is otherwise really good, she is my best friend), the issue of starting a family is sill going to be there and I’m not sure how to work through that.

Hey bearvsshark I'm back in London in November. Let's go for a beer if you're still in London and things are still difficult. No jokes.

Absolutely gutted about the news that my hometown might be about to lose all of it’s iconic and very skateable paddling pools.

From the Harlow Council Facebook page.
“ Plans agreed to build five free-to-use splash parks...

Just as we get ready to open the paddling pools for the summer holidays we have announced an exciting programme to build five new splash parks

These new splash parks will gradually replace the concrete paddling pools over the next two years. They will be easier to maintain and can be open to the public for longer than just the six week holidays.

We will be keeping you updated as our plans progress.”

Woke up at 3.45 am to the sound of cheesy 80s Italian music being blasted from a house across the road. As it was exactly 458c last night the windows needed to be open - and even when I tried closing them it could still be heard quite clearly. Fully enraged, I wanted to go over and shout at them/confront them, but it's a bit odd where I live, as you can't really just bang on the door as it's all just very large houses on a terrace converted into various apartments so you never are entirely sure which door/buzzer applies to which apartment. They played it until 8.30 this morning...

    People can be cunts.

easymotherfuckingJet canceled our flight last night, and we had to rush back to Switzerland from Berlin as we had various things to do here today and there were no flights to Geneva until tomorrow. Took us 14 hours and 6 trains to get back home (which costed me 400 euros), and none of these trains were the cool ones where you get cushy beds and shit. We feel like zombies now and I'm not looking forward to asking those wankers for compensation as loads of people told me it was a fucking headache and took 3 to 6 months to get your money back, when you do. Fuck those wankers.

Easyjet cancelled my flight to Lyon cos the the snow last March or whenever we had all that snow. Swapped my flights to fly to go to Geneva and got a train from there to Lyon. Claiming the train ticket price back from them was really easy to do through the website and I'm pretty sure it wasn't long for the cash to come back into my account.

    Hope that helps fella.

Me and my wife got 250 euros each after Flybe cancelled our flights to Edinburgh recently. There are flat fees that EU citizens are entitled to if your flight is cancelled. Its done by multiplying distance x time iirc...there are tables you can find online.

I'll PM you the letter I sent. We had the money in the bank in about 2 to 3 weeks start to finish. Peace of piss.

Well, that's good to hear my friends as everything else I was told sounded horrible.
I'd love to see your letter Les, I'll PM you my email address. Thanks!
I think we should be able to get our train tickets (and the sarnies and beers we had during the journey) refunded and some kind of compensation as we arrived home 12 hours later than initially planned and my girlfriend couldn't make it to work.
Kept all receipts and everything of course.

I was cycling to work yesterday and a guy in front of me got run over by a HGV. Just read that he died at the scene in Holborn. Poor family. I can still hear this lady screaming when I think of it. Be careful out there fellow cyclists.

That's gnarly, hope you're alright that would fuck me up

I still don't understand to this day why anyone would choose to cycle in Central London as a whole and any main roads in Greater London with the amount of deaths that happen. Granted it is getting better with separated cycle lanes in some parts, but where there aren't just why...

I was shook yesterday. I still cycled to work again today but going past that point on my journey where everything was back to normal and it was like it never happened, spun me out a bit.

I still think about that photo you posted after getting doored years ago. Heard somebody say that the sound of a car door opening when you're cycling in tight traffic is like the sound of somebody cocking a gun. Thought that was good.

Fully agree, to my mind the negatives massively outweigh the positives. Whenever I discuss riding motorbikes with friends many of them will just say it's too dangerous and I agree, yet many people happily dart around buses on busy roads in Central London and somehow don't consider that anywhere near as dangerous despite the amount of people that are dying on the roads lately.
