God I remember them, I remember the matching shellsuit in the Kays catalogue was £110.00 & when one of the sixth formers came in wearing one we all thought he was the shit. Can't find any pictures of Matchstick trainers (pretty sure they were a Barratts own brand). Fuckin' loved them when I was 10.

Still can't find the ones that came in turquoise or purple and people started to swap them so they had one of each colour on each foot

I had these back in the day, it was little time after the basketball shoe craze hit these shores (hence the sale price and the only reason my old man would get them for me!) but I still thought they looked fresh:

Those DGK Reeboks were fucking horrible.

I was (un)lucky enough to be given a pair of these by Jack Curtain at Epic on there DGK/RBK tour. Which coincidently was the same day I met Lev for the first time.

I've run the gamut of shameful trainers when I was younger. Pony boots that looked like the Fila boots, which were the shit; Puma discs etc. The only really shameful things I have ever skated in was a pair of Reebok classics (the ultimate townie trainer!) in blue and yellow fake leather..

Did the urban legend of the '£5 Classic' get spread about much outside of London ?
Back of the bus would be rife with comments like "My cousin works at Foot Locker in Clapham and they got a sample pair"
