Thread: The Being Healthy Thread

So much focus is on being "healthy" is on food. Over the years trends have come and gone, "Fat is bad for you, a carb free diet is the best" and now the latest sugar tax situation.
There is one constant throughout the years.....P.E classes in schools have remained ONE HOUR a week.

Very inspirational and intelligent video series about getting into shape by Coach Firas Zahabi of Montreal's famous Tristar Gym.

Goddamn, these are fantastic. I've found a few more interviews and podcasts with Zahabi and listening to them over the past day or two has been a goldmine for techniques to develop mental toughness, philosophy, training (general stuff, not specific to MMA), being the best version of yourself, all that thing. Top find, thanks for sharing!

I hate all this middle aged fitness bollocks. You're fucking 40, you're not supposed to have a six pack and a mirror fetish. Far healthier to recognise you're in an ageing vessel and chill the fuck out and enjoy yourself.

Fuck dying at 50 as a fat slob. I'd rather try and get a few more years feeling as young as possible. I have not started yet though ha.

Trolling this may be but it made me do a LOL.

As an ageing vessel myself, I feel fitter than I have in years - I don't have a six pack or a mirror fettish though (unless other shiney surfaces count?).

    Maybe there's a happy medium?

I'm a bit sceptical about any talk of 'toxins' or 'detoxing' but if it helps someone feel healthier then I suppose there has to be something to it:

Unless you've got a major health issue, your liver/kidneys should be able to get rid of most toxins failry normally.

Having said that, lemon does have recognised anti-inflammatory properties and is good at kickstarting the immune system, so perhaps there's something to it. I do have lemon water every morning. . Every little thing helps.

It's odd, but I'm kind of intrigued. Might try it.

Yeah, but "I’d like to start by saying this is a 2-week commitment".

And there's the likelihood of a shart or two.

An utterly ridiculous extreme. Yeah your bodies aren't meant to be filled with a load of preservatives and GM crap but in the long run it seems like maintaining a healthy diet with minimal processed foods, minimal meat and plenty of fresh fruit and veg is better than just going to this extreme and then go back to your old ways. I don't understand how anyone could function normally on a liquid diet energy wise.

IMO these 'cleanses' are just ways for unhealthy/ overweight people to feel good about themselves for two weeks and justify eating like shit rather than make sustainable & long term life choices
