101 re-isusses by Cliche, odd but stoked.
does anyone know when these reissues are being reissued?
Is there not something tragically shit about a European skate company that made such a big deal about being well euro , now being the 'American 90's throwback battle reenactment skateboard company'.
They used to sell bearings that look like packaged Brie. It was all red wine and moral superiority . Fuck, they even called a video Freedom Fries ( I think ..)
" zoot alores !! you stupid Americans !! You cannot be trusted with this skateboarding you have invented !"
Maybe I'd think differently if these were unsanctioned bootlegs.
Skateboarding in 2016 is just one phat licensing agreement.
(Goes without saying ..101 was obviously totally wicked and well better than everything that's out there today)
yup, don't understand how they can do all this with a clear consciounce(cant be bothered to google the spelling)
in my defense my brother is after a new board and as his wife is super religious the natas devil would be perfect for him.
Cliche is owned by Dwindle these days. They did a couple of tribute decks (Puig Virgin Mary and Winters Satan) Dwindle is releasing a couple of 101 re-issues along side them, the re-issues are not Cliche branded.
Don't read too much into it.
You are absolutely right and I knew that and hearing it those terms makes its sound even lamer !!
(total aside. - I saw a pic of boring actor/scientologist Jason Lee on Instagram. I guess he's only just got hip to the nostalgia market and is getting all excited to re-issue his Bowie graphic. Reminds me of the time Sonic Boom was bootlegging early and rare Spacemen 3 records and selling them to record shops from the trunk of his car......which is basically what Jeremy Klien does but Jeremy Klien wasn't in Chipmunks so it's sort of alright... I think...)
The 'tribute' decks were done by Sean Cliver who did the original Gabriel Jesus graphic.
Marc McKee who did the Devil Worship graphic works for Dwindle and has done a Cliche collab graphics in the past.
The dude that runs Cliche is an avid collector of 90's decks and is super hyped on 101 etc.
Natas and Gabriel are both receiving royalties on their reissue decks, unlike most other reissues.
Not that lame really.
Haha, I don't think that mario or Freshkid understand what I mean.
