I did a bit of Ashtanga yoga and I can recommend at least learning the sun salutation sequence. It's basically what Science said, but flowed together.

I know everyones bodies are different but here's my experience of the subject for keeping in shape for skating.

It's probably just common sense that I was oblivious to.

I went through around 5 years of constantly injuring myself with minor sprains to gnarly dislocations and breaks. The final break (probably my worst) was just running down a mini-ramp. When I was taken to hospital I was referred to a specialist who talked me through diet and the need for eating correctly. I had mentioned that I liked to party/drinking a lot and thus was missing a lot of meals throughout the week. She pointed out: as a skater you use your body more than a normal person would. Therefore you would require more protein and calorie in-take than a normal 3 meals per day.

If I was missing meals along with not eating more, my body would start to process none essential proteins from my body which included the areas around my joints and bones.

Since then I have a minimum of 3 meals per day, sometimes more and I've not had to visit a hospital since (might just be luck). I've had some great slams in that time too.

Oh and I try to avoid processed foods/sugar too and alcohol.

If you want any more running advice I'm your man. In 2007 I was ranked the 25th best marathon runner in the UK in the Male Veterans 35+ age group CMOAC.

Eating properly makes the biggest difference. Cooking as much as possible is way cheaper too. Found this list of foods which should somehow improve your performance if you're seriously into athletics/sport. It makes sense that if you manage what you eat and when, you should notice the improvements in a short period of time -

    flaxseeds - motion control
Chicken & sesame seeds - endurance
    Beetroot - motivation
    Eggs - neurotransmission
    walnuts - focus enhancement
avocado & fish oil - sharpen concentration

First 7 minutes here - forget about doing handstands in between, it's just showing off. Otherwise this routine is banging. Did something like this earlier this morning in the sun on Clifton Downs, felt awesome.

Because it's in the Velominati Rules:
Rule #24 // Speeds and distances shall be referred to and measured in kilometers.

This includes while discussing cycling in the workplace with your non-cycling coworkers, serving to further mystify our sport in the web of their Neanderthalic cognitive capabilities. As the confused expression spreads across their unibrowed faces, casually mention your shaved legs. All of cycling’s monuments are measured in the metric system and as such the English system is forbidden.
