Just heard Jay Adams died yesterday, of a heart attack.
RIP to one of the most definitive raw skateboarders...
A true icon.
I saw him randomly in HB a couple of years ago drinking a coffee on his own. Too scared to approach him obvs.
...kiss me with apocalypse.
sad. one serious gnarler
It's so sad and for anyone getting old(er), like me, a bit scary. Only yesterday I read something on Tom "Wally" Inouye's instagram about being stoked to be still skating in his mid-50s. That made me pleased I could have another 10+ years of skating in me, then today we have the opposite news.
He was a pretty good indicator for the future of skating, not necessarily a good role model! We could be wearing uniforms if it weren't for some of these legends.
"There are people in skateboarding whose views and backgrounds differ from mine, but I appreciate that theyre a part of it because thats what keeps skating so diverse and not just some homogenized bullshit. More opinions, more girls, more homosexuality, more global representation." Ryan Lay
There are so many amazing photos out there - feel free to contribute here.
Jay Adams saw the future of skateboarding a decade before it existed.
That picture's badass
Set the template for reckless abandon
