I'm not sure. A long time i reckon. I once held my breath at a depth of
around 3 metres for 2 minutes and 40 seconds. I reckon a seal could
do 8 times that, no problem. I'll never get close to that but i sure do
    enjoy being under water.

And they cane it around when they're underwater as well, not just squinting at a digital watch holding it's nose.

Which type of seal are we talking about? Do you mean the Northern elephant seal, (mirounga angustirostris) or the Southern Elephant seal, (mirounga leonina)?

Or perhaps the grey (or Atlantic) seal (halichoerus grypus)? Or is it the common (or Harbour) seal (phoca vitulina)?

    HAHA, yes.

What? A swallow carrying a coconut?

It could grip it by the husk!

It's not a question of where he grips it! It's a simple question of weight ratios! A five ounce bird could not carry a one pound coconut.

Listen. In order to maintain air-speed velocity, a swallow needs to beat its wings forty-three times every second, right?

It could be carried by an African swallow!

Oh, yeah, an African swallow maybe, but not a European swallow. That's my point.

Oh, yeah, I agree with that.

But then of course African swallows are non-migratory.

    Oh, yeah.

So, they couldn't bring a coconut back anyway.

Wait a minute! Supposing two swallows carried it together?

No, they'd have to have it on a line.

Well, simple! They'd just use a strand of creeper!

What, held under the dorsal guiding feathers?

    Well, why not?

Sperm whales can hold their breath for a couple of hours on dives to the ocean floor to eat giant squid. Speaking of which, whale vomit is apparently extremely rare and used in perfumes...
