Is there going to be an official skateboard for sale for non-skating Joe Public to buy? Like how adidas and Nike fight over who makes the official footballs.
Could this be a back door way in for sport brands to start making boards and having teams dressed from head to toe in said brand?

I'd 100% agree, except, madly, there's no vert category! Just "street" and "park". Surely vert fits the "competition" format better?

I could see Ed Leigh and Christian doing the official BBC studio bit, but with Churchill and Goff doing the proper ground level shouting and heckling. The Olympics will allow that, right?

That is the H-Street rip off though, right? Yeah they did a collaboration with cliche, board wise.

A park comp will be like judging gymnastics except the gymnasts are allowed to use any and all of the equipment at the same time.

So someone on parallel bars will be 'judged' against someone who is using the rings or a pommel horse.

Leaving aside all of the millions of other reasons why it shouldn't be in the Olympics, from a purely sporting point of view it just makes no sense.

You will have that guy doing stalefish back flips in one run versus someone else doing switch flip back noseblunts down rails in another run.

    Who's 'better'?

    Whack.

There aren't official team GB Snowboards or Skis or BMXs or Road Bikes or Kayaks or target rifles, so I don't see any reason that they would standardize hardware for Skateboarding. If they do, I'm calling it now as a bidding war between Roysport and TKC for the official GB set-up to be either Enuff or Fracture.

It will be shit. All we can hope for is some glimmer of skateboarding's non-conformist spirit to show up in the comp. Something along the lines of Blender doing pencil rolls and graffiti, Penny skating off his tits with Catcher in the Rye in his back pocket or Stu Graham doing a shit on the street course.

4 years is a long time in skateboarding, Obvious Brit contenders like Kris Vile and Ross Mcgouran might be over the hill by then. I wonder if medal hopefuls like Nyjah, Shane O'neil and Sheckler will avoid filming parts in the years leading up to it for fear of blowing their chances with an injury?

I'll be 42 by 2020, but perhaps, just maybe, if I follow the right training regime with the right balance of physical and mental preparation... watch out for a mysterious Irish entrant with a paunch and a silly but stylish hat...
