No that's a very suitable analogy I feel.

So am I to be fair. Career wise it makes sense in the current skateboarding climate. Just a shame.

...in that they're still just about part of the elite but they won't be dominating the industry again any time soon?

And yeah, I agree with Haven too, because he's stated a fact.

Well, Arsenal were once considered one of the greats in football. For a time (as it happens - about the same time Girl/Chocolate were the almighty force in skating), Arsenal played beautiful football, they won lots of trophies and were generally considered unstoppable in the sense that they could attract top talent and they won lots of games. By all accounts, they were what one might call an elite team.

Nowadays, Arsenal are suffering from mis-management (both from the actual football manager, and from the board of directors/financial executives) to the point where only occasionally remnants of their once greatness gleam through, only to be muddied up swiftly again in their now consolidated position of mediocrity. Their current team is a mixture of fresh players that are a bit out of place, spliced amongst some old and jaded legends that no longer quite cut it in the modern game.

They are considered to be 'getting by' through living off their legacy.

But will FA become the mid-30's and over washup team soon? How long can they contract skaters for before being forced to kick them off for not being relevant to the instagram generation?

Yeah that's a good point as well, they have a brand that will look dated far quicker than Girl/Choc did in my opinion.

When did FA start? 2004 or something? It's not like it shot to popularity from nowhere.

Yeah but it was just a richer bedroom t shirt company for about a decade.

When they actually started getting a team/advertising/found financial backing it definitely entered the mainstream rapidly.

As a full company with a team? I'm not sure.

Can't remember any boards in 2001, there was an Etnies shoe and some t-shirts weren't there?
