Grown up life (& parenthood) took over here too. Mates shop closed. Too much internets in a post-SOS supporting, concrete parks handed on a plate world..

I thought the writing was on the wall when things went online only. I guess the paradigm has shifted. Skateboarding won't die, but Sidewalk (and R.A.D before it) is part of the cultural glue for the national scene and identity, it was the messenger.

uk skateboarding isn't the mag, its the people, events, proper shops and grass roots shit.

skateboarding has informed my approach to the world and given me a perspective i'm thankful for. I wish everyone from the mag, and who i met outside that the best for the future.

I won't bother quoting every one, as what's been said by many already encapsulates what I feel about the existence of Sidewalk (Surfer).

When you're a kid/teenager like I was in a small town struggling to understand their place in the world, the value of something like Sidewalk becomes utterly irreplaceable. It gets to the point where you feel you know it on a personal level and it knows you - where you can relate to the editorials, the jokes, the random bits and pieces about associated sub-cultures, the interviews, tours, demos, and everything in between as a 'voice' that you can depend on.

It became for me, at least, a cultural compass of sorts, and for that I'm eternally grateful. I know for a fact that without Sidewalk I wouldn't be nearly the person I am now.

The next evolution of Sidewalk has 'failed' for reasons we don't fully know or understand yet - I can only assume it's a representation of what skateboarders growing up need now versus what they did 15/20 years ago. For those kids growing up now without Sidewalk I sure as hell hope that their world of insta comments can even be a fraction as enriching as those which the words of Ben, Horse and everyone else at Sidewalk gifted us with.

As for this forum, there's no way we can leave this go. This is not the end of N26.

From a nippa reading the mag religiously on the bus to and from college I was gutted to see it out of print. It is sadder to see it go entirely now.

I am glad I didn't grow up on an Insta feed for my skate news...

Such a sad day. I hear Sidewalk will live on, but with different staff, but that's just what I hear. Let's wait to see if anon has any further comments before we all assume the entire thing will die.

anon, corpse, horse, all the best to you and this new opportunity for the future. Am looking forward to seeing what unfolds for you all, you are all insanely talented (and funny fuckers to boot).

@anon I'm happy to host or transfer the forum over to another place, the content on here is all gold.

Look at the state of Mpora. As long as they change the Insta password, I guess.

It'll be like when 'Stig' and Sean Goff did RaD.

Thank you all for the nice comments.
That's from me and from everyone else involved who lurk/used to lurk/don't lurk etc.

I love everyone on here and consider you all my true friends.
As for what's planned for Sidewalk etc, I honestly have no idea so can't comment I'm afraid.
