We used to call out shops too, big rambling messages on their answerphones at 3am.

Yeah it was in/ on 'the wall' didn't I send it to you a bit ago after reading through some old ones?

Used to have a good time trolling people with fax machines, helicar in particular for a few months I think with really strange drawings.

He specifically used the then recently released The End to beat all of UK skating around the head with.
There were replies for the next few months trying to out him, including one who sent in a picture of someone who (iiirc) looks like a young Michael Macyntire looking at a gash on his elbow. It was never confirmed if it was the infamous Tim Card or not.

Basically he was the OG Haven_Hamilton, but back then instead of a few pages of forum beef, the beef was spread out over the course of months via the Ramble On section of the mag.

If only there was some kind of old skateboard mag archivist, lurking....right now...who might be able to a.) dig out the original letter, and b.) find the one claiming to be him...Oh well. I guess that person doesn't exist.
But if that person does exist I would suggest to them to look through the May'98 to the end of '99 editions of the mag.

Someone must've already done that a while back surely? I'm pretty sure other thigns were scanned in and put up here.

Chances are there's some mug with nothing better to do than look through those... Pretty sure I saw it quite recently anyway. And my Sidewalks are all in order.

Those issues don't all have Letters / Ramble On listed in the contents, so I've only looked at the ones that do and I can't find it yet.

The fact that Tim Card is still a sore point brings me joy.

Proper bummed to hear that the gate is potentially closing on an era. I've not lurked for awhile, but hand on heart this place has generated more genuine crying with laughter responses than anywhere else online. I've met some great people and been some amazing places because of it. Sidewalk was the nexus that brought those experiences into being and I'll be forever grateful - N26 forever x

Sadly there's a few missing around that time so this may not be the complete saga.

Edit - Can't seem to embed the photos - let me know if they show up.
