    If anything, it sort of reveals just how reliant skaters are on the art direction and marketing of the companies that nurtured them. Not that Almost or Globe were particularly to my liking at any one point brandwise - but they made it work somehow, someway. In retrospect, it seems odd how Haslam balanced himself between two companies which were essentially polar opposites of one another in terms of their image - with Almost going for light-hearted, colourful, playful editing/graphics/ads, whereas Globe went through their sort of emo/rapey vibe around United by Fate (I just remember shots of them peering out of the van and it being really unnecessarily creepy).

    Haslam only became 'legit' around Almost. His Deca years weren't appreciated by anyone. I'm not sure what led to the demise of Almost, but it just goes to show how skaters depend on how their image is woven into the industry.

    There have been many really talented skaters that have come and gone but just never really found a niche brand to attach themselves to, and just faded into irrelevance (random one that pops into my mind is Danny Fuenzalida). The same will just happen to these once significant pros who aren't particularly creatively astute.

    Vallely = Street Plant.

    I'm sure I saw something on Insta that they were celebrating 4 years of being in business.

    Edit: I did - https://www.instagram.com/p/BtOyrWrlr3I/

    Also.. I just twigged that Street Plant & Elephant Brand are two different things that I'd assumed were the same thing.

    Kris Markovich could potentially have 101, Color, Prime, Element, Foundation, Hollywood, Blind, Crimson and Elephant Brand tattoos.

    Mike V might have Powell Peralta, World Industries, TV, Powell.2, Transit, Black Label, Element, 1031, By The Sword, Elephant Brand and Street Plant tattoos.

    Obviously those are just board sponsors.

    And Orion trucks, I think. Both on Hurley too. This is just board companies. Fuck knows how many upstart wheel companies those two signed up for...

    Markovich was on Epic, Toxic, Dogtown and G&S before he even made it to 101
