I wanted it to be a Nic Cage film I could like (I haven't liked anything he's done for about 20 years but I love Wild At Heart, Raising Arizona and Face/Off) and I wasn't disappointed.
So, it's rekindled my love of Cage, and acid.

I don't mind Cage, he is cheesy and one dimensional but I liked even the National Treasure films.

Can't believe this thread made me watch Mandy. Two hours and one minute I'll never get back. Even the Con Air guy couldn't save it.

Can't believe you're doing it so wrong! I've watched it 1.5 times now and I'm going to the pics to watch it again next week

You're not having much luck with films lately are you?!

That said, I'll definitely avoid Sicario 2 but this is just too tempting.

Ive got tickets booked to see it. I'm a huge Nic Cage fan but I'm aware he is a divisive actor. He can be either exceptional or terrible, depending entirely on the script he's given, because he doesn't seem to alter his approach to different subject matter or styles of filming. He's just going full throttle (even when he's toning it down) and if you can streamline him, then you get a great performance and if you can't, well...

I read recently that he's a huge fan of german expressionism and takes his approach to acting from that, which makes a lot of sense.

He hardly even speaks in this, that I noticed. If you're a film nerd there's probably more appeal. Better than Sicario 2 though, since at least it's a bit different. If you like Shads and Spirit Quest you might dig it. Although it doesn't have any skating in it.

    Potential Spoiler Alert:

He only seems to do anything when he's fighting those Mad Max looking lads. And it all reminded me of Braindead, or the other one.

Watched Nocturnal Animals last night. Good film, but went to bed feeling very stressed.
What a ridiculous clusterfuck of totally uncool jokers.

Nocturnal Animals is great. That road scene is some of the most tense directing I've seen in the past few years.

Tried watching The Dinner on Netflix last night. It's literally the worst pile of shit I've ever seen. Steve Coogan is so so so so bad at acting seriously. Been on an unfortunate string of woeful films of late.
