yer they do. think there kinda like ND filters, you have to use a longer exposure. or maybe higher ISO what ever.

Jesus - no offence mate but maybe trying knowing something about filters before giving advice on them?

A polariser is used for 3 things - to eliminate glare, minimise reflections and to enhance saturation by blocking polarised light. It also increases contrast to a certain extent. Polarisers effect metering by 2 stops but you shouldn't have to alter your ISO setting if using one. You control the intensity of the polariser by turning it to the effect you want while looking at your subject in the viewfinder. There are 2 types, circular and linear, and only a circular polariser will work on a digital camera.

ND or neutral density filters are used to reduce light entering your lens, thereby allowing you to use longer exposures to get, for example, the swirling, misty look on water over rocks. They come in a variety of strengths, depending on the effect you want.

I have a Sigma DG Wide circular polariser and a Hoya ND8 neutral density filter. I wouldn't be without the polariser in particular. Bear in mind that you have to buy the correct size for the diameter of your lens so if you have a few lenses it can get expensive.

No he didn't say that, but he did have an enormous grin on his face giggling to himself constantly and looking like he was incredibly stoked on the face that he's still breathing.
